Hi, all --
Since this requires registration and is limited in enrollment, I wanted to send out a reminder. Hope your summer has begun well. I look forward to seeing you in Chicago in a few months!

Sunday, August 3 to Tuesday, August 5
"Video for Journalism Educators" — $150 Fee
Presented by Visual Communication and Newspaper divisions
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of telling a story with video, how to work with audio and microphones, and how to edit video and export it for the web. Macintosh laptops with Final Cut Express/Pro, video cameras, tripods and microphones will be provided for participants to use during the workshop.
Applicants will be put into teams of two and will share workstations. The workshop will start at 6 p.m. Sunday, August 3, with an orientation. Monday's sessions will cover shooting and editing video. On Tuesday, August 5, participants will finalize stories, review work and celebrate progress before concluding at 5 p.m. No prior video experience is necessary. Brian K. Johnson, Illinois, will lead this workshop with assistance from Larry Dailey, Nevada at Reno, and Edgar
Huang, Indiana-Purdue, Indianapolis. Johnson created this workshop to train journalists in the use of video storytelling. The cost is $150, and only 32 participants will be accepted. You must attend all parts of the workshop. Register using the form on page 2 of the recent "Transformations" brochure sent out by AEJMC in advance of the convention; look for
"Video for Educators." Or use the registration form on the AEJMC Web site. Direct questions to Johnson at bkj at uiuc.edu or 217-333-2103.
